Frequently asked questions
What is nervous system regulation?
Nervous system regulation involves how your body responds to stress and returns toward a steady state. Regulation skills may help you navigate overwhelm, big emotions, and everyday stressors. Regulation does not mean feeling calm all the time. It's more about how efficiently do you return to calm after a heightened state, and managing the frequency and time spent in heightened states.
What does “body-based” or “somatic” mean?
Somatic means “of the body.” Rather than focusing only on talking through feelings, body-based practices use movement, breath, and awareness of physical sensations to support regulation. Experiences vary, and practices can be adapted to your comfort.
What is bottom-up regulation?
Bottom-up regulation starts with bodily experiences, such as breath, movement, and sensation, rather than focusing first on thoughts. These approaches may influence how you feel emotionally and mentally.
Who is this for?
These offerings are for people building emotional regulation skills, including neurodivergent individuals, staff/employees, students, communities, families, individuals, and teams. Get in touch to discuss which offering may fit your needs, or check out the pages in the site menu to find what's best for you.
What is the SDP and how do the one-on-one sessions work?
California’s Self-Determination Program gives eligible regional center participants more choice and control over the services and supports in their individual program plan. My sessions are one-on-one, tailored to the person, and available virtually and/or in person. Participation in SDP does not automatically mean a particular service is approved or funded; confirm arrangements with your SDP team.
Do you travel or work virtually?
Both. Workshops and one-on-one sessions have in-person and virtual options. Contact me to discuss your location, travel arrangements, and availability.
What are wellness stations?
Hands-on regulation stations I bring to wellness fairs, school events, and community or corporate events, so people can try practical tools on the spot.
How do I book a session or request an event?
Wellness stations can be booked directly on this site by visiting the Wellness Stations page, and workshops can be booked on the Workshops and Programs page. For all one-on-one, private group, and guest speaking bookings, you can reach me directly via my contact page or email me at info@helloregulation.com to discuss next steps.
